Allo Nicotine Strength Guide

Allo Nicotine Strength Guide: What 20mg Salt Nic Actually Means ( Details about Allo Vape Juice )

Every Allo device and every bottle of Allo e-liquid sold in Canada carries the same number on the label: 20mg. It's not a flavour thing, it's not a device thing, it's the same across the Ultra 10K, the Ultra 25K, the NUUD 50K, the pod system, and both e-liquid or allo vape juice lines. Here's what that number is actually telling you.

Why Every Allo Product Is 20mg, No Exceptions

The 20mg/mL figure isn't an Allo decision. It's the legal maximum nicotine concentration allowed in any vaping product sold in Canada, set by Health Canada's Nicotine Concentration in Vaping Products Regulations, which have been in force since July 2021. No vaping product legally sold in Canada, from any brand, can exceed 20mg/mL.

So when every Allo product lists 20mg, that's Allo selling at the ceiling the law allows, not a marketing number chosen to sound strong. Before this regulation took effect, some vaping products sold in Canada carried concentrations as high as 66mg/mL. The current 20mg cap is a significant step down from what used to be legally available.

What "Salt Nicotine" Actually Means

The 20mg figure tells you the concentration. Salt nicotine tells you the form. Nicotine in e-liquid comes in two main forms: freebase nicotine, the older standard, and nicotine salt, sometimes called nic salt, which is how nicotine naturally occurs in tobacco leaf before processing.

The practical difference is throat feel. Freebase nicotine at higher concentrations tends to hit harsher on the throat, which is part of why older high-concentration e-liquids could feel rough. Nicotine salt is smoother at the same or even higher concentration, which is exactly why it became the standard for closed pod systems and higher-strength disposables like the ones Allo makes. It's the reason a 20mg Allo device doesn't feel like inhaling pepper spray.

Every current Allo product, across every device and both e-liquid lines, uses salt nicotine rather than freebase.

Is 20mg Actually Strong?

On its own, 20mg/mL is the highest concentration currently permitted in Canada, so in that specific sense, yes, it's as strong as a legal vaping product gets here. Whether it feels strong to you personally depends more on the device than the number alone.

Salt nicotine at 20mg/mL is generally aimed at vapers who want a nicotine hit closer to what a cigarette delivers, which is why Allo's entire lineup, built around low-wattage, mouth-to-lung devices, is formulated at this strength. It's not intended for high-wattage, direct-to-lung setups. Salt nicotine at high wattage delivers nicotine too quickly, which tends to feel unpleasant rather than satisfying. If you're using a high-wattage direct-to-lung device, a lower nicotine concentration is the better technical fit, regardless of brand.

Ultra vs Intense: Same Strength, Different Flavour Impact

One thing worth clearing up since it trips people up. Allo Ultra E-Liquid and Allo Intense E-Liquid are both 20mg/mL. The Intense designation refers to flavour saturation, not nicotine strength. Intense flavours hit harder and taste more concentrated, but you're not getting more nicotine by choosing Intense over Ultra. If you find Ultra products too subtle in flavour but the nicotine level feels right, Intense is the fix. If the nicotine itself feels too strong, switching lines won't change that, since both sit at the same 20mg cap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Allo nicotine strength always 20mg?

20mg/mL is the legal maximum nicotine concentration allowed in vaping products sold in Canada under Health Canada's Nicotine Concentration in Vaping Products Regulations. Allo products are formulated at this level because it's the highest strength currently permitted, not because of a brand-specific choice.

What is the difference between salt nicotine and freebase nicotine?

Salt nicotine delivers a smoother throat feel at the same or higher concentration compared to freebase nicotine. This is why salt nic became the standard for high-strength e-liquids and closed pod systems, including the entire current Allo lineup.

Is 20mg too strong for a beginner vaper?

It depends on the device and on individual tolerance. Allo's 20mg salt nic products are formulated for low-wattage, mouth-to-lung devices, which are generally more forgiving than high-wattage direct-to-lung setups at the same nicotine strength. Anyone concerned about strength should be aware there is currently no lower-nicotine option within the Allo Ultra or Intense lines.

Does Allo Intense E-Liquid have more nicotine than Allo Ultra E-Liquid?

No. Both lines are formulated at the same 20mg/mL. Intense refers to a richer, more saturated flavour profile, not a higher nicotine concentration.

Can I use Allo salt nicotine e-liquid in a high-wattage device?

It's not recommended. Salt nicotine at 20mg/mL is designed for low-wattage, mouth-to-lung pod devices. In a high-wattage, direct-to-lung setup, it delivers nicotine too quickly, which tends to feel harsh rather than satisfying. For device compatibility details, see the full Allo Intense E-Liquid guide.
